NRES Counselor

 

 

 

 

My name is Lesha Valencia, and I am honored to serve as the school counselor at North Riverside Elementary. I bring 18 years of experience in education, having taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. I earned my Masters degree in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Scott, and our two children, Cole and Kate. Our family also includes two dogs, Ace and Addie. In my free time, I enjoy singing, crafting, cooking, and traveling. I am also actively involved at Milestone Church, where I serve as a greeter and participate in the choir.

As the school counselor, my role is to support students through classroom guidance lessons, small group sessions, and short-term individual counseling. I collaborate closely with teachers, families, and the community to ensure that all students receive the support they need. Additionally, I help lead our campus efforts in crisis prevention and response.

I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and caring environment where every child feels valued and empowered to succeed emotionally, behaviorally, and academically.
